Bringing the near dead back to life:
While Brian krause was preparing to star in 'The Mission', a short film he wrote, co-produced & directed, he wanted a car that would fit his character in the movie which was a gritty, gun-toting private eye on a case that could shake his already bumpy existence. So, as he was driving through Los Angeles one day, inspiration came to him, he found his perfect car which was just sitting out there, it was a 1978 Cadillac Coupe de Ville & best of all, despite its ragged exterior, the Coupe ran pretty well. Brian promptly shelled out $800 which more than proved its mettle during production of 'The Mission'. As often happens on movie sets, the director fell for his star, hard but this time the star was the 'CAR'. With the Coupe, Brian sees a new opportunity to take a car & make it something special.

"I was looking for a hip, mannish, undercover cop kind of car, the Monte Carlo kind of thing. And I drove by a tow yard, & it was just sitting out there. It was perfect. It was a 1978 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, black on black & just gnarly enough to fit the bill. It fit with the character & the movie. The character himself is kind of a down-on-his-luck guy, not sure where he's from or where he's going & the car fits his demeanor. I definitely fell in love with the car more as time went on. The engine is in such great shape & the car's in pretty good condition, so it just made sense to keep it."
I've never really looked at a car as an investment, & that's where taking this car at 800 bucks & fixing it comes in. It's going to be worth more someday. Hopefully it's worth more than what I eventually put into it. I want to redo the body work on the outside, the rims need work; the dash is cracked; the seats are kind if funky."

If he can conquer the body work, he should have a near-mint treasure, one he might pass along to his son, Jamen when he reaches high school.
